Plettenberg Bay has a variety of spectacular shallow reefs only a 5 minute boat ride from the beach. These shallow sites showcase the colour & beauty of Plett diving & the beauty of the Eastern Cape reefs. The Sea fans are draped in Basket Stars & groups of Shysharks rest in the rocky crevices. Large Red Roman, Zebras & Blacktail share space with numerous species of nudibranchs, orange wall sponge & purple soft coral making for a fireworks display of colour! Our most popular dive site is Jacob’s reef characterized by a large pinnacle & spectacular wall dive covered in soft corals.
You will be met on arrival by our experienced Dive Guide who will sign you in & assist with fitting your Scuba & Snorkel gear (changing rooms & lockers are available on site). Once everyone has geared up, the group will take a short stroll on the beach to the boat where you be given a briefing by the skipper & dive guide on boat procedures & the dive site, before embarking on a short boat ride to one of the shallow dive sites. You will then get to jump into the water with your guide for an exhilarating 45 minute dive. On arrival back at ProDive, our facilities include changing rooms & showers where you can freshen up after completing your dive.
The choice of shallow dive site will be decided on the day based on the weather & sea conditions.
THE DIVE SITES:
Jacobs Reef:
Depth: 10–16m
A 5 min boat ride from the Beacon Island Hotel & is characterized by a large pinnacle, Jacob’s is a spectacular wall dive covered in soft coral. Dolphins Column:
Depth: 14–16m
This reef is populated by multitudes of sea fans, sea stars & sponges with nudibranchs, reef fish & octopus being regularly viewed.
Deep Blinders:
Depth: 13–16m
This colourful reef is located on the seaward of the pinnacles where healthy coral growth supports the many fish species that reside on the reef & rays are often spotted on the sand beside the reef.

WHERE TO MEET:
Please drive straight to the Beacon Island Hotel Main Entrance. Park outside & follow our signs on the walkway to the left of the boom gate. We are INSIDE the Beacon Island Hotel complex, next to the volleyball courts. If you need any further directions please ask the security.
MEETING TIME:
The time advertised is the launch time, please meet at our dive centre no later than 45 minutes before the time.

I really enjoyed the dive! The team treated me like a VIP. Chanel was knowledgeable and made sure we were well prepared. Mark is an excellent skipper and completed the shore entry and exit flawlessly. En route to the dive site we had to change plans slightly because of a whale and her calf in the vicinity of our original planned dive site but the team took this in their stride and we had a great dive. Chanel also took some awesome pics during the dive. The conditions were almost perfect but there was some surge, which was no longer there on my next dive on the 3rd.
